ViewSonic Corp.’s latest digital signage package includes everything
a small or medium-sized business would need to get started. The
DSM3210, which will sell for an ESP of $999 when it becomes available
in July, includes a 32” HD LCD, along with an HDTV tuner, HDMI and VGA
inputs, plus Windows-based authoring, packaging, and presentation
software.
Using the included software, commercial customers can design and development signage options, and schedule timing for display, along with content distribution. The package includes built-in monitoring diagnostics so a business owner can keep track of the status of each display at all times.

Our take:
All-in-one products and digital signage software products that address the low-end of the market are becoming increasingly popular, which probably indicates that there are more people who are serious about implementing smaller digital signage networks now. The reasons for this are probably many and varied. For one, costs have come down a lot, to the point where ViewSonic can even offer a package for $1,000 (the quality of which may be suspect, but might be good enough for some people). Second, people are more technically savvy than ever, which means they may realize how a digital sign can complete certain tasks that are valuable to them, whereas they might not have had the idea before. And finally, digital signs are basically ubquitous, so more people are already aware of how they're used, and how they can be helpful.
