WireSpring announces public beta for version 2.5 of FireCast Linux kiosk software
Testing period allows customers and resellers to evaluate new remote management tools, improved reporting functions, and Microsoft Office viewers.
April 7, 2003, FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-- WireSpring Technologies, a developer of software for public information terminals, today announced the beginning of a public beta test period for version 2.5 of FireCast, the Linux-based kiosk software suite. Marking the last stage of testing prior to the official release of the new software, the 60 day beta test gives kiosk owners and integrators the opportunity to preview the upcoming release and suggest any final changes. Version 2.5 brings improved remote management, enhanced reporting, and more robust security controls to the kiosk industry's premier packaged Linux solution. Additionally, it is the first release of FireCast capable of reading Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoin documents.
The FireCast software suite is a complete solution for building and managing public information terminals, such as self-service kiosks and digital signage systems. The suite is comprised of FireCast OS, a Linux-based operating system custom-tailored to the interactive kiosk and digital signage markets, and FireCast ClientCenter, a robust, web-based remote management package.
